“Judy? Judy? Where did you go?”
Boomer whined once, then the whine twisted into nothingness.
He crept forward for a moment, then heard a crack behind him.
He turned around and said, “Oh, Judy, I was so worried. I thought you were—”
An enormous bear paw, claws included, smacked him in the face, knocking him down.
He cried out. But no one was there to hear him. Not even his dog.
He got eaten by a bear.
